The customer is a professional service provider who has been long time driven by the concept of "qualified, costless, stable", and for years has been providing high quality and costless internet services to over 3500 organizations.

Customer Problem

The customer is identified as an information system service platform of a city's education field. The stability, liability, safety of the network and threats coming from internet applications become the main concerns of the service provider. Protect the network from virus and spywares stealing academic achievement and protect teaching web servers from attacks have also been the focus of the customer's work.

However, the network environment of the service provider has posed a great challenge to the performance of security devices. It has 4 internet exits with a total bandwidth of 2.6G. There are 3500 end PCs and over 2 million TCP concurrent connections.

Solutions

Taking features of education industry into consideration, Anchiva secure web gateways conduct bi-directional scanning in real time to HTTP/FTP/SMTP/POP3/HTTPS protocols to block and eliminate threats from virus, Trojan, and spyware in application layer.

- Anchiva web application protection ensures safety of server group in data center of the service provider.

- 2 layers of appliances are easy to be transparently depolyed at the exiting router and core switch, with no need to change existing network settings.

- Anchiva provides easy management by centrally control and manage all devices in the network using NMS. Easy to realize scanning policy assignment, malware database updates distribution, report generation, and give a overall view of the whole network.

- By inspecting the whole network, statistics from each device help administrator understand the threat status of different regions and schools.

Deployment Infrastructure

As shown in the figure above, the service provider utilizes 7 Anchiva SWG-2000X in its network. They are deployed in load balancing mode and provide real time inspection on inbound and outbound data for threats in the application layer.
